I am the owner and founder of Indigo Handloom, which is located in San Francisco, CA. My company employs handloom weavers in rural India by creating modern cloth from this ancient tradition.
We offer a living wage, support the handloom traditional lifestyle and have a strict no-child labor policy.
Our weavers work out of their homes on looms that their families have owned for generations. Some of our weaving families have been weaving continuously for the past 300 years.
We produce original fabrics and scarves for the western market. Our mission is to promote the use of handloom in clothing, accessories and home furnishings in order to keep this ancient art form thriving.
We also consider it our mission to educate the world on the sustainable and eco-friendly nature of handloom.
There are great advantages to using handloom - for the earth as well as the soul!
